If you're serious about lowering your golf handicap and doing so quickly, master the three scoring clubs--the driver, the wedge, and the putter. These clubs have the greatest impact on your golf game and provide the greatest opportunity for cutting strokes from your scores. Mastering these clubs will improve your game as much as 5 strokes per round.
Specifically though, let's focus on the wedges. Knowing which wedge to hit in different situations is really the best way to drop shots because if you have the right club selected, it makes it so much easier to pull the intended shot off. While learning to hit a wedge is not difficult, hitting one with confidence comes in handy, especially 40 yards of so from the green. Golfers face this situation two or three times a round, maybe more. Hitting a good shot from 40 yards out often leaves you with just a short putt, as I emphasize in my golf lessons, so you want to hit the shot well.
The most critical decision with the 40-yard pitch shot is which wedge to use--the pitching, the sand, or the lob. These clubs are easy to hit to the green, but landing on the green is one thing and getting the ball to do what you want after it lands is another. Let's look at three typical 40-yard situations and the type of wedge shots each requires.
Lob Wedge
In first situation the pin's up front and there's little green to work with. Here, you need a high-flying shot with little run--a shot you can easily learn to hit with a some practice. The lob wedge is the club of choice for getting the ball in the air, so it's recommended in this situation. (If you're on the fairway with a tight lie, however, you might want to try one of the other wedges.) The lob wedge has from 58 to 60 degrees of loft, so there's no need to open the clubface. Just square the face to the target and swing. Since the ball will fly high and come to rest softly, you need to be careful about where you land the ball.
Sand Wedge
In the second situation the hole is in the middle of the green, so you have some green to work with. The sand wedge is the club of choice in this situation whether you're on the fairway or in the rough. The sand wedge enables you to customize your shot more easily than either the lob or the pitching wedges. You can learn to alter the roll and the trajectory with very little golf instruction. I personally like the sand wedge as my "go-to" club.
If you want a shot with less carry and more roll, square the clubface to the target. If you want a shot with slightly more roll than loft, then close the clubface slightly. If you want to hit the ball higher, just open the clubface more, in which case the shot will resemble a shot from a lob or a pitching wedge. Also, keep in mind that with an open clubface, the shot tends to go right.
Pitching Wedge
In the third situation the pin is back and there's plenty of room for the ball to roll. The pitching wedge is the club of choice if you're on the fairway or in some light rough. (If you're in heavy rough, try one of the other wedges.) Keep in mind that the ball will run lower and hotter, even if you open the clubface a little, so don't swing as hard as you might with another iron. It's a mistake I see a lot of when giving golf lessons. The ball is also going to roll more than with the other wedges, so get a good reading on the green, just as if you were going to putt the ball. More often than not you will get closer to the pin with this type of shot than a high-lofted shot.
The mechanics of a wedge shot are easy to learn. The key is choosing the right club at the right time, and making slight adjustments in your shot. That's something that only experience can teach. At the same time it's important to practice these three shots as much as you can, so you can master the technique of each shot, develop control of it, and build self-confidence in your ability to execute them. That, in turn, will make shots easier to make.
The wedge is as important the driver or the putter when it comes to minimizing scores. Wedge shots from 40-yeards out may not have the drama of sinking a 30-foot birdie putt or powering a 300-yard drive down the middle of the fairway, but over the course of a round, they'll save you as many as five strokes or more from your scores. And that result is bound to lower your golf handicap.

If you know anything at all about John Daly—and if you don't, what in the hell are you doing with this book in your hands?—you know he approaches the game of golf from an, uh, slightly different perspective than your average two-time major winner.
How different? Well, for starters, Long John thinks the PGA Tour ought to permit Bermuda shorts, make carts mandatory, let him wear his hair down to his butt if he wants to, and strip-search tournament patrons at the entrance gate to keep cameras and cell phones off the course.
In Golf My Own Damn Way, you'll take a virtual ride on Big John's magic bus as he tells you the best way to grip it so you can rip it. Looking for a sure cure to bunkerphobia? It's here. A one-hour golf lesson that's 100 percent guaranteed to make you a better golfer? Ditto. Want to know why you should occasionally leave your big dog in your trunk, how to watch your weight, and what golf and sex have in common? You came to the right book.
And while he's busy explaining all these and many other things, Daly also tells you why you should keep your head out of the game, let your belly lead your hands, listen to your right foot, check your ball position—and buy a hybrid (the club, not the car).
Following in the spike prints of his 2006 bestselling autobiography, My Life In and Out of the Rough, Golf My Own Damn Way is an off-the-wall and intensely personal yet imminently practical and accessible tip sheet on how to cut ten strokes off your score—now.
Two things are certain: you've never seen a golf instructional book quite like this one, and you'll never need another one.
Fairways and greens, Pard!

The short game is arguably the hardest part of golf. Hitting the ball off the tee is easy compared to the recovery shots and touch shots needed to get the ball onto the green and into the hole.
Ray Floyd is an acknowledged master of the short game, and he strongly credits his longtime success to his proficiency form 60 yards in.
In this profusely illustrated book, Floyd shares his personal theories on all facets of the short game: pitching, chipping, putting, and more. He describes what has worked for him and some of his colleagues and makes suggestions on how to vary shots depending on the reader's abilities and tendencies. He relates anecdotes of famous shots that have won for him, offers a wide range of practice exercises, and explains how the pros calmly handle unusual shots that leave duffers perplexed.
In all, this book will increase readers' golf smarts, bolster their confidence and lower their scores.

Gift baskets will always be popular and a great idea to give as a gift. People love to receive gift baskets. Making your own chocolate lover's gift basket is cheap and easy.
You can fill it with a variety of inexpensive items and there are lots of choices.ou can easily customize each chocolate theme gift basket to your recipient.
I've put together a few great ideas for making a chocolate lover's gift basket, complete with instructions on how to make them. You can make inexpensive gift baskets or expensive gift baskets depending on your budget.
First make a list of your recipient's hobbies and interests. List everything you can think of.
Suggestions: sports, books, television shows, in-house hobbies, outdoor recreation, camping, workshop, enjoy working with tools, golf, fishing, computer-related, environment friendly, golf, and tennis.
Also relaxation, food, wine, spa, bath and body, fruit, cookie, crafts, gardening, etc. You can tie in any interests into your chocolate theme. These are just a few ideas.
You can find many inexpensive items for use in making your gift baskets or filling your gift baskets, at 'dollar' stores, craft stores, party stores, discount outlets, flea markets, close-out stores, etc.
For gift containers you can use: any type of basket, wicker basket, straw basket, bucket, laundry basket, plastic container, toy dump truck or other large toy truck, purse, tin, Christmas tin, seasonal container, large tea pot, large upside-down hat, or plastic storage container-put lid underneath.
Other items might be: extra-large coffee mug, boot, potted plant holder, wire basket, large pasta bowl, large popcorn bowl, cooking pot, clay pot, tackle box, colander, small wagon, skillet, antique trunk, champagne bucket, hamper, Asian-style trunk or picnic basket.
For gift basket liner you can use: tissue paper, shredded paper, shredded newspaper, tea towels, dish towels, hand towels, kitchen towels, colored towels, colored napkins, placemats, diapers, baby blankets or fabric pieces.
For gift basket filler you can use: shredded colored paper, straw, Easter basket grass, crumpled newspaper comics, a bed of wrapped chocolates or other wrapped candy.
For items in the container it'll depend on the specialty or theme of the gift basket - in this case Chocolate! With chocolate it's best not to include any fragrant items, unless they are wrapped in such a way that they don't give off any fragrance. Here's a small random sampling to give you some good ideas:
Gift certificate for massage or spa visit, gift certificate to favorite store, gift certificate for restaurant, loofah, CD of nature sounds, favorite artist CD, DVD of newer release movie, how-to video or CD, handwritten poem, watch, framed photo, inspirational book, spa pillows, bath pillows, spa supplies, or a small fluffy towel.
Also flavored teas, green tea, specialty tea, herbal tea, biscotti, tea infuser, healthy snacks, fancy chocolates, boxed chocolates, chocolate bars, hot chocolate mix, specialty coffee mix, homemade chocolate chip cookies, homemade brownies, chocolate fudge, and Ghirardelli chocolates.
Or chocolate covered raisins, chocolate covered strawberries, Hershey chocolates, dark chocolates, white chocolates, chocolate bars, chocolate covered cherries, Belgian chocolates, chocolate mints, and chocolate covered pretzels.
How about miniature or giant-size chocolate animals, gourmet chocolate candies, Tootsie Rolls, nuts, homemade chocolate-based cookies, pre-packaged chocolate food items, brownie mixes, and chocolate chip cookie mixes.
And wooden spoons, your best chocolate chip cookie recipe, your favorite hand-written chocolate recipes, chocolate dessert recipes, chocolate fudge recipes, hot chocolate or cocoa mixes in fancy packets, coffee mug for cocoa, movie tickets and cinnamon sticks.
You can use as many chocolate items as you like. You can make your basket with all chocolate items or mix in a few non-chocolate items.
For gift basket wrapping you can use tulle netting or I like to use cellophane wrap. You can buy it in large rolls. Look for specialty packaging outlets where you can buy it wholesale.
Tie off the wrapped basket with ribbon. Wired fabric ribbon is best if you have it. For bows: You can use pre-packaged bows but making your own bows is easy and the best if you can do it. Use a large or huge bow.
Assemble all your gift basket items, tools you need, etc. Now line your selected gift container. Now stuff the selected filler into the gift basket to give added height to your items. Place, layer and arrange your selected items on the filler in the gift container. Put the larger items in the back, the smaller items in front.
Fill in the holes or prop up with more filler (shredded paper, Easter basket grass, wrapped chocolates, napkins or holiday napkins etc. Also you can use 'picks' of artificial flowers to fill in space.
Place your cellophane or other wrap under the gift basket. Center the gift basket on the wrap. Bring the cellophane or other wrap over the top of the gift basket and tie it with ribbon and or a beautiful bow! Use ribbon and bows to match your theme colors. Tuck a card in the ribbon and that's it!
You can find fabric or wired ribbon cheaply at Costco-- especially in the fall prior to Christmas but often throughout the year in some stores. You can shred paper in a paper shredder. If you're going to need a lot of cellophane you can purchase it wholesale through the packaging specialty stores throughout the U.S. but should be easily found in craft stores.
General tips: Try to use non-perishable items. Use freshly packaged food items, because even packaged crackers and cookies can go stale in a couple of months. You can find filler flower 'picks' at garage sales for pennies. If you buy wholesale they are usually around a dollar each.
Also there's nothing like learning how to make gift baskets from a video or DVD for making cheap and easy gift baskets. You can view it over and over again and share with your children, other family members and friends.
You can even charge for classes with your new-found knowledge and/or start a home based business if you so desire. In any event, making a chocolate lover's gift basket is cheap and easy and will be thoroughly appreciated by the chocolate lover recipient.

Golf Technology is a wonderful thing. It has helped out heroes from yesterday like Jack Nicklaus and Tom Watson to stay competitive longer than they would have been able to otherwise. However, the good news is that the new golf technology has just not helped the professional players. It has also allowed amateurs many benefits to their game as well. What are some of the golf technology factors that currently affect the amateur's game today? Here are a few suggestions:
Golf Technology - Through the research of many golf club manufacturing companies, including Titleist, the science of tracking a golf ball with a launch monitor was made available to more PGA Professionals and their club members. The launch monitor could follow the golf ball from impact, to the launch angle to the flight apex and finally to when and where it hits the ground including the ball's roll out has greatly improved. Doppler Radar is now used to track all of the characteristics of ball flight. This now allows a player receiving a club fitting to swing multiple drivers to find the correct combination of length and loft just for them. Through using this technology, it has been discovered that most players hit longer shots with more loft on their drivers. Currently, some tour professionals are using drivers with 10.5 degrees of loft. Just a few short years ago, you would have been laughed at for having this much loft on your driver. It was thought that the less loft you needed on your driver the better player (or bigger ego) you had. As these players used the new technology and discovered they could hit it farther with more loft on their driver, again, their ego took over and the switch to more loft was on! At the beginning of this revolution, it go to the point where some golf club companies would even place the "preferred lower loft" on the bottom of the head when the head actually had more loft on it. They did this so sales would not slump as they would have if the "real loft" was placed on the driver.
Golf Technology - If you polled most amateurs on what their "bad shot" is on the golf course with their driver, what type of answer do you think you would get? After giving literally thousands of golf lessons, I can promise you that the mass majority of golfers fade or in most cases slice the golf ball. The manufactures know this and have introduced the golf technology of closing the face of the majority of the drivers to be sold to the mass public by one or two degrees. This tweaking of the clubhead design of the driver is considered by the manufactures a design technology. Obviously, the closing of the face would allow you to hit straighter drives but in theory they should be longer as well. As the clubface is not as open as it was with "your driver", the closed driver head would have less loft on it as impact is made and would provide a longer drive. Hmmmm thought the manufacturers. If golfers will hit it straighter and farther, we just might sell a few of these

The world's population may be 10 to 15% lefties, but there are not many left-handed golfers. The main reason is that most of them prefer to stick to right-handed golf. In addition, it used to be quite difficult to come across left-handed instruction manuals and left-handed golf clubs.
But that is a thing of the past now, since more and more golf instruction manuals are being targeted to lefties. The top coach Steve Anderson has authored the book 'On the Other Hand', which is meant for left-handed golfers. Bob Charles is one of the best left-handed golfers in the world and he has put together an instruction video, the only one of its kind, to give insight on how he achieved success as a lefty golfer. The game of golf also lays stress on playing it more with your eyes than your hands.
Some famous lefthanders are quite ambidextrous this way, using their left hand only for the game and their right for everything else. Experts say that it is required to look at the ball first and visualize it going away from your body. That will show you which side of the ball to take. The world has seen very few top left-handed golfers.
But these instructional tutorials might prove helpful to hone talent. They give you clear and comprehensible instructions on how to play your game the left-handed way. You get more insight on your full swings, putting and even game management. Mike Weir and Phil Mickelson are the two names that appear together with Bob Charles as the world's top three left-handed golfers.
Left-handed equipment might also be difficult to come across, but there are some sites which offer a wealth of it. Golf Smith and The Golf Warehouse are two international sites that stock a wide range of these products. Edwin Watts of U.S.A. and Online Golf in Europe have also been serving a long line of such web customers.
