Gordon Jackson has written more extensively about golf instruction than any one in the history of the sport. He has produced more than 50 instructional DVDs, written more than 30 Special Reports and published twelve books on his Locked-In Golf™ techniques. His books include:
*HOW TO HIT A GOLF BALL AS STRAIGHT-AS-AN-ARROW
*HOW TO LOCK-IN A PERFECT GOLF SWING
*HOW GOLF WORKS
*TOO SIMPLE TO BE GOLF
*THE LOCKED-IN GOLF METHOD
*HIT IT DEAD STRAIGHT
*INSTANT GOLF
*STRAIGHT SHOOTING GOLF
*HOW TO HIT A POWER DRAW
*HOW TO HIT A PERFECT FADE
*HOW TO LOCK-IN A PERFECT GRIP
*THE LOCKED-IN GOLF SWING

After many years of extensive research and thousands of experiments, he was the first to discover the fundamental flaw of golf which he characterizes as the “Vardon Curse.”
The “Vardon Curse” simply means the instant a conventional style of grip is formed on a golf club, the wrists will rotate the clubface to an effective open alignment and to an out-to-in swing path, creating a slice ball flight alignment.
Since such discovery, he has designed, developed and perfected more than 100 techniques to convert the inherent slice ball flight alignment to a straight ball flight alignment to produce a golf shot as straight-as-an-an arrow. The instructions to perform many of these techniques on DVDs are available at http://lockedingolf.com and http://jacksongolfmethod.com
In addition, he has designed, developed and perfected more than 30 techniques to lock-in and produce shaped golf shots. The instructions to perform many of these locked-in shaped golf shots are available at http://shapinggolfshots.com. Instructions to perform his locked-in putting techniques may be found at http://lockedinputtting,com
Also, many of his techniques as well as much of his research, experiments and validated tests are addressed in his books, DVDs, Special Reports, blogs and articles with one purpose in mind:
TO TRANSFORM GOLF FROM A
“GAME OF GUESS” TO A “GAME OF SUCCESS.”

The Search for the Perfect Golf Club

List Price: $16.95 The average golfer knows little more about golf clubs than what he or she reads in advertising or sees in Golf Channel infomercials. This lack of knowledge leads, in turn, to a kind of equipment-induced frustration, called the "grass ceiling," which is one of the leading factors in nearly three million people leaving the game each year.

This is the first book that explains to the layman how and why golf clubs work the way they do. It lets you in on the secrets that will allow you to spend your money more wisely and play the game to the best of your ability.

It is also a book that challenges the industry to rethink what it's doing to the golfer and the game in the name of "modern marketing." It calls for a new "golfer-centric" approach to the sport that will insure the health of the game through the 21st Century and beyond. This is the one book EVERY golfer needs to read!!

"A few years ago, Tom Wishon, with his experience as a designer, helped me understand more about a particular aspect of golf-club performance. With this book, Tom will help you understand the entire field, make good buying decisions, and get the most from your game."

--Arnold Palmer, Golf Hall of Fame Member

"In the course of my career I don't know how many pro-am rounds I have played. In all those rounds, rarely have I seen amateurs with clubs that genuinely fit their game. For me, Tom Wishon stripped away the mystery of club fitting, which I believe helped me to become a Top 20 player on the PGA Tour. I am convinced this book will allow average golfers to get on the right track with their equipment as well. It is a 'must read' whether you are a scratch player or a beginner."

--Scott Verplank, PGA Touring Pro

"Tom Wishon's knowledge of golf equipment isn't theoretical. It's practical. He understands not just the theory of why and how golf equipment works, but how all golfers can make technology work for them. Even more important, he makes that knowledge easily understood whether you're a mechanical engineer or a CPA trying to break 90."

--Mike Stachura, Equipment Editor, Golf Digest

Anyone interested in golf equipment needs to encounter Tom Wishon--whether in person or in print. His passion for sharing his knowledge of the equipment we play with borders on the maniacal, yet he always provides clearly mapped out answers to the most complex equipment questions. Tom has always been an indispensable source and I've picked his brain for years. What's left of it is in inside these pages.

--Mike Johnson, Equipment Editor, Golf World

I have written about golf equipment and golf technology for a very long time. I can assure you that nobody in the game today knows more about golf clubs than Tom Wishon. Furthermore, he has a passion for golf that is really fun to behold. If the great mystery is understanding how clubs function in the hands of real golfers, Wishon gets my vote as the Sherlock Holmes of golf.

--James Achenbach, Equipment Editor & Senior Editor, Golfweek

▷▷▷The Importance of Intention in Golf

What is the most important thing in golf? Is it the grip? The stance? Putting? The short game? Driving? The single most important factor in golf influences all of those things mentioned...it's 'Intention'.

The golfer's intentions influence everything they do on the golf course, and even off it. It influences the goals they set, the clubs they choose, the practice plan they design, the golf coach they get lessons from, even the way they swing the club!

If golf was a drink, then intention would be the glass that holds all the ingredients in place. This being true, the next question is...What is your intention for playing golf? What do you play golf for?

To best answer this question I've listed some priming questions below, answering these will help you to become aware of your intention for playing golf:

- When you first played golf, what made you return a second, third and fourth time?
- What motivates you to book a game of golf?
- What is it about golf that wins your attention over other sports and activities?
- If you could only achieve one thing in/from a round of golf, what would it be?
- When you purchase new golf equipment, what do you purchase that for?

Now that you know what your intention for golf is, you want to set goals for your golf aligned with your intention. It's no good having the intention of enjoyment and then becoming frustrated if you play poorly. What goals can you think of that if achieved, will help you to satisfy your intention for playing golf?

Has your intention for playing golf changed over time? Isn't that interesting....what happened to change your intention for playing golf? Did you need to manage golf along with other priorities? Did your playing standard change? Is the intention you have for playing golf now the one you want to keep or would you like to change it? These are all important questions.

Below is an example of how intention can change for a golfer over time. The example is of a fictional tour professional, notice how his intention changes over the course of his golf playing career:

Beginning at golf- fun, enjoyment
Getting better/ learning the game- challenge
Competing- satisfaction
Playing professionally- making money
Playing socially again following a professional career- fun, enjoyment

In the above example, notice how the golfer returned to the original intention of playing golf for fun and enjoyment. This fact is something that I believe needs to be recognised by every professional in the golf industry....coaches, professionals, club administrators and even equipment manufacturers. At the end of the day, most golfers set out to play golf for fun and enjoyment. Remembering that can make satisfying that intention so much easier. Would you like to learn accelerated learning strategies for golf? They provide golfers with the opportunity to play their best golf possible with very little practice time, ensuring they play well enough to enjoy the beauty of the game, and maintain an enthusiasm for the game.....keeping it fun and enjoyable.

▷▷▷Golf Course Marketing Strategies

How to be a Big Fish in Any Pond

Many golf courses attempt to gain a competitive advantage by continuously dropping their price. This marketing strategy will inevitably fail over time because you create a perception of being a discount golf facility. You will begin to attract the ''Bottom-feeder Golfers'' who rarely spend any cash in your proshop or bar and usually carry baloney sandwiches in their golf bag. Why not just become more appealing to people who like to spend money for quality services? There are several good lures you can use to catch these golfers with money:

1. Throw in the Towel

DON'T DISCOUNT YOUR PRICES - INSTEAD - ADD VALUE! Price cutting is ultimately a losing game. A better approach is to add value so you can increase rather than decrease prices. Your focus should be on finding creative ways to differentiate your golf course and your customer service. Increase demand so much that you no longer have to compete with the price cutters. Simply do more effective marketing and get so busy that you have to raise you price.

All your ads should create value propositions that provide enticing offers and premiums for a great golfing experience. You can ''Throw in'' a golf towel, hat, complimentary lunch (Hot dog & Coke), range pass, yardage book, poster or a screensaver. By adding these types of premiums, you can easily raise your price to more than cover the cost of the premium and create a higher perceived value at your club. However, you may want to limit these promotions to your tee spots that are already in high demand (such as weekend mornings) so you can raise your fees considerably without it affecting your traffic flow. Consider how the Airlines do this with ''Space Available'' in First Class.

The exception to the rule of discounting is to use it as a reward for your most loyal customers. Give financial incentives to people who buy in volume and pay upfront. Have discount programs for the players who want to buy a 20 round pass or a series of 10 lessons.

2. Make it like Disneyland

Think about how much fun it is to go to Disneyland, ''The Happiest Place on Earth.'' The Park is always immaculate and the staff are highly trained to make people smile.

Disney is in the entertainment business - and really, so are you.

Everything at Disney is designed for fun and creating memories. It's more than just a theme park with rides. In the same way, your golf course should be more than just golf - it's about the experience you help them have.

Think about how you can raise the level of customer service and improve the ''WOW'' factor at your golf facility. How can you make the whole experience at your course more enjoyable and entertaining.

How about making sure your washrooms are impeccable (Women rank this as the #1 most important value in a quality golf course).

Why not serve vanilla scented towels at the turn? Make them hot in a microwave on cold days and icy cold on hot days. Very refreshing.

How about having a friendly guy that greets you as soon as you arrive and takes your bags to the range or starting tee? Dress him in white coveralls like at the Masters.

What about giving your Marshalls Instant Replay vouchers for disgruntled clients? Have them give balls away to people hunting for their lost balls! (This really helps improve slow play and just makes people feel better. The marshall is now seen as a friend rather than a policeman).

How about fun, cute Cart Girls who have been given great training and know how to make people smile.

Why not take a digital photo of every golfer at your signature hole and send it to them by email? (How's that for collecting email addresses? Disney now does takes digital pictures with some of their rides - and even charges you if you want the printed photo!)

What about having a few more ''Fun Tournaments'' with crazy prizes and great social events afterwards. Build a sense of community.

The point is, you should make it your goal to have your golf course become ''The Happiest Golf Course on Earth!''

3. Do it Like Cheers! Remember the TV Show Cheers? Why did people keep going to Cheers? The answer is in the song, ''Where Everybody Knows Your Name.''

It teaches a great lesson - Build loyalty through incredible personalization. Here's several personalization hooks you can use:

Create a Preferred Golfer Loyalty Program where you reward your best customers. If you'd like to see more about a complete loyalty marketing program we've developed, view details at www.preferredgolfer.com. Train your staff on how to remember names. Create photo directories of your members for staff review. Have a rewards and incentives for the best ''Name Rememberer.'' Create all kinds of special social events at your club where it's very easy for people to get to know each other in a fun, informal way. Make sure there's some ''Intentional Interaction'' so it makes it easy for people to connect, even if they're new to a group.

4. Become Heroes In Your Community How would you like to make a positive impression on your community and earn the right to get some ink from your local media? Here's a few ideas:

Have programs for kids to build birdhouses through the school woodshop for your golf course. This program can be especially effective with special needs kids - allow them install the birdhouses on the course and make a meaningful contribution to their community. Have your staff become experts: Let your chef host cooking classes. Have your superintendent host workshops on flower gardens, pruning, thatch control, lawn fertilization and maintenance. Have your golf pros teach etiquette classes to the juniors - complete with a nice graduation ceremony.

5. Use Exceptional Photography to Create an Indelible Impression You only have one chance to make a good first impression. Great golf course photography is critical to improving your image and branding. Make sure you have at least one outstanding photograph of your signature hole so that people will be enticed to play your course. Great photography is the easiest lure you can use to catch golfers with money.

Want to see some stunning Golf Photgraphy? Check out the work of 2 times "Golf Photographer of the Year" John Johnson at www.golfphotos.com Using these 5 strategies will allow you to differentiate your club from the competition and you will

BECOME A BIG FISH IN YOUR OWN LOCAL POND!

▷▷▷How to Get Rid of A Golf Slice

Fixing a Golf Slice - 9 Simple Steps

Are You Struggling to Get Rid of a Golf Slice?

It seems that every golfer at some point in time wants to know how to get rid of slice golf. At some point, every golfer has had a fear of slicing.

I know the dreaded fear of the golf slice - I had it bad. I also know how embarrassing it is to hit that weak, airy-fairy shot off to the right, the one that so often goes in the woods or out of bounds.

The other problem with slicing is that it will cause you to lose 10-17 yards from your drives. The reason for this is that slicing will produce a higher shot with more backspin and sidespin than a draw or straight shot. When you learn to overcome slicing and hit the ball straighter, you will naturally gain more distance.

It is possible to overcome a golf slice. If you apply everything I'll teach you in this free online golf lesson, you can learn to fix your golf slice.

What causes a slice in golf? It is simply that the ball is struck with a sideways force that makes the ball spin sideways. Now, one other reason you may be hitting weak shots to the right is that you are hitting the ball off the toe of the club. This in fact will open the clubface at impact. Golf Dust is a great golf impact indicator that can show you if this is what you are in fact doing wrong.

Here's what you must understand - there are only two ways that you can slice a golf ball:

1. An outside-in swing path or 2. Holding the club face open at impact

There is one other thing that may cause a shot that drifts off to the right and that is simply hitting the ball off the toe of the golf club. The best way to find out if you're not hitting the sweet spot is to use a golf impact indicator like Golf Dust or some form of golf tape.

In this article, we'll look at how to cure both of the problems that cause a slice.

However, what I'd like to have you consider first is what's going on in your mind. That's where I was actually having the greatest challenges... and where my greatest breakthroughs have come.

Here's how I corrected my thinking and learned to fix my golf slice:

1. The biggest problem I had with slicing the golf ball was that I was actually overcompensating. My fear was slicing my shot to the right, so I would compensate by trying to pull the club inside to the left. This created an outside-in swing path, exactly what was causing me to slice.

2. Whatever you focus on expands. If you focus on that what you fear, it will expand and your mind will dwell on a slice. Get over it. Yes, that's right, just quit thinking about slicing as of right now. Stop fearing it.

3. One of the best lessons I ever learned about this was is Timothy Gallway's book, "The Inner Game of Golf." He talks about challenging your inner critic. Tell yourself, "Alright body, show me how to hit a slice. Show me what that would look like."

Wow, all of a sudden, just by facing your fear, it takes away the tension!

Then say to your body, "Alright body, now show me how to hit one straight. Then show me a hook." This process allows your body to relax and actually feel what the different swing paths feel like.

Give your body permission to try a few different swing paths. It will be very freeing and suddenly you will gain a new perception and awareness of your actual swing path.

Accuracy Golf Training - How to Align for Straight Golf Shots:

Start focusing on what it takes to hit straight shots. This method of alignment is what I still use and it is extremely effective. If you watch golf on TV, you'll soon discover this is exactly how most touring pros align their shots.

1. Take your grip while standing behind the ball.

2. Next, stand behind the ball and look at the target (usually a flag).

3. Then visualize a line that runs from your target to your ball.

4. Take Dead Aim. Find something that catches your eye that is on that target line, about 1-2 feet directly in front of your ball. This is where you will aim. Make it a precise spot, like the left edge of a divot or an unusual blade of grass.

5. Come to the side of the ball and 1st align your club to the target spot 1-2 feet in front of you.

6. Now ALIGN YOUR FEET TO RUN PARALELL TO THE TARGET LINE. It is critical that you understand this point. Your feet should NOT point at the target, otherwise you will be having a closed stance and it will not be natural for your club to swing through the ball squarely. If your feet are aligned to the target, you will actually have a closed stance and will be forced to overcompensate. The best way to check the line is to take your normal stance, then have someone drop a club at your heels. Then you can go behind the ball and check to see if the club on the ground is lined up parallel to the target (it should be lined up about 15 feet left of the target - the opposite if you are a lefty).

7. Great - now you're perfectly aligned for success. Now waggle the club to release any tension from your hands. I suggest that you develop a consistent number of waggles before you swing because this will help you get in a steady habit. It will also keep you focused on your set-up routine, rather than taking too long over the ball and letting your mind get crowded with negative swing thoughts. You might find something like "1-2-3 go" is helpful. Just create your own pattern and make it a habit.

8. Rotate your head towards the target (do not lift your head up as you will get yourself out of position). Visualize the exact spot where you want the ball to land and roll, then imagine the flight the ball will take. I do this visualization as a part of my waggle.

9. My only swing thought is simple - Feel the club swinging straight down the line. I visualize an imaginary line that runs down the path I want my club to take, then I watch my divot come out of the ground along that path.

These 9 simple steps should prove most helpful in curing your golf slice and allow you to have greater accuracy in your golf game.

If you are still having difficulty getting rid of your golf slice, you should take a look at your grip.

It is possible that you have what is known as a "weak grip." This simply means that your grip is such that your hands tend to roll the club to an open position and the ball curves right at impact.

A simple rule of thumb for a proper golf grip is that you want to be able to see at least two knuckles on your glove hand (your left hand for right-handed golfers). The right hand should tuck in to the left hand and the hands should work together.

You should also have a PGA teaching professional take a look at your set-up.

The Assist Pro Swing Trainer will help you with the grip because it automatically puts your hands in the proper swing position.

One last thing to check to overcome a golf slice: Part of the problem may be in the way you are NOT transferring your weight in the golf swing. If you find that on your follow-through that the majority of your weight is on the right foot (for righty's), you are not transferring your weight properly. This will cause an outside to inside swing plane and will result in a slice.

There are three golf training aids that can help you overcome the problem of slicing the golf ball:

1. The Foot Wedge - No, this is not where you kick the ball into the fairway with your foot. The Foot Wedge is a golf training aid that will help you keep your weight on the inside of the right foot. When you play for real, this should help you get the feel of having your weight on the inside of your right foot. You can buy a foot wedge or even use a couple of headcovers under the inside of your foot.

2. The Inside Approach - this is a great tool to automatically help you improve your swing plane and get the correct inside to outside swing path.

3. The Assist Pro Golf Swing Trainer - this weighted Golf Training Aid helps to get your hands in the proper position and well as develop the proper swing motion.

A Special Golf Tip for Ladies: Many women are especially plagued with slicing the golf ball. It seems the reason for this is often because many women are overly concerned with a swing that "looks good." In conversations I've had with women about this subject, I hear them saying, "I just want to look good when I swing" or "I just don't want to be embarrassed." That's understandable. Learning to hit the ball squarely off the tee feels great - and it makes you look like a classy, accomplished golfer.

Whatever you focus on expands. It may be that you are actually just trying too hard. As a result, you develop a tremendous amount of tension in your body and your hands are not able to relax and properly swing through the impact zone.

Here's the key to hitting great shots: Smile and have fun! Pretend like you're a little kid and you don't care about the results. Say to yourself, "I'm going to enjoy this swing, regardless of the outcome."

Make sure to take your grip like you were hanging on to a baby's hand. When you swing, focus on relaxed hands.

When you practice, take a few swings on the practice range and see if you can detect any tension in your body when you swing. Just notice it, don't try to correct it. Make it your goal to just release any tension and allow yourself to swing to be free, fluid and fast.

The Best Golf Training Aids that Help Fix a Golf Slice:

Inside Approach

This practice tool helps you to get the proper "Inside-Approach" golf swing path. Most people who slice have a swing path that is too steep and comes from the outside of center to the inside. To compensate for pulling their shot, they leave their clubface open through impact, producing that nasty slice.

The Inside Approach Virtually eliminates that improper swing path. It causes a person to actually take the club away in a better position, making it much easier to come back through the ball in the proper position.

Assist Pro

The Assist Pro Golf Swing Trainer is a weighted club that has the weight in such a position that it teaches you the proper motion of the hands to roll over through the impact zone. This practice club also has a grip that automatically puts your hands in the proper and strong position. Great for developing feel, especially for a beginning golfer.

▷▷▷Three Drills For Generating More Clubhead Speed

Weekend golfers often equate "muscle power' with length off the tee. I see it all the time in my golf lessons. The player swings his or her driver as hard as he or she can, hoping to hit a monster drive. They never do. In fact, swinging the driver harder, as I tell these players, shortens your drives because it tightens your muscles, decreasing their ability to producing power.

The secret to more distance off the tee is generating more clubhead speed. Mechanically, you generate more clubhead speed one of three ways, as I point out in my golf tips:

o By widening your swing arc

o By lengthening your swing arc

o By adding speed in the hitting area

Widening your swing arc increases the distance the clubhead travels, giving it more time and room in which to build up speed. The same thing happens by lengthening your swing arc. This makes the swing arc longer, and again, gives the club more time and room to accumulate speed. Adding speed in the hitting area increases the clubhead's momentum through the impact area, generating more power.

Below are three drills I use in my golf lessons to teach how to generate more clubhead speed. The key with the drills is learning the feeling of what it is like swinging the clubhead faster, then incorporating that feeling in your swing. Practice the drills faithfully. You will see results fairly quickly.

Widening Your Arc: Right Hand Drill

If you swing arc is narrow, the club has less time and room to build up speed. If your left arms (for right-handers) bends too much during your back swing or is scrunched against your body during your backswing, as I often explain in my golf tips, your swing radius diminishes. This, in turn, narrows your swing arc. To generate more distance, you must keep your arms extended, which isn't easy if you have too much tension at address. Watch golfers with a low golf handicaps. They are always loose at address.

Ideally, you should feel your left arm extending on the backswing and downswing, with the sensation that you're swinging the club's butt away from your body. To achieve this feeling, practice hitting balls with your left hand holding the club and your right hand gripping your left wrist. Stretch the left arm out as you swing back. Use the right hand and arm to move the club farther from your body. The muscles at the top of your left arm should feel stretched as you complete your backswing. Swing slowly to keep club-ball contact solid.

Lengthening Your Arc: Right Foot Drill

Here's another golf tip: The farther away from the ball the clubhead travels on the backswing, the more potential it has to generate speed on the downswing. Short swing arcs result from a lack of body turn on the backswing. A full turn pushes the club back farther, so it has farther to go --and more time and room to generate speed--coming down. To set the stage for a steeper turn, try the right foot drill. I use it frequently in my golf lessons

At address, draw your right foot back about 10 inches (like taking a small step backwards, away from the ball- so as to set your stance as closed) and turn the toe of your left foot out at a 45-degree angle to your target. Keep your shoulders and body pointed toward the target. Define the target line by laying two clubs on the ground, pointing toward the target. Now hit some balls. You'll feel the sensation of your hips and shoulders turning more fully. Remember that feeling. Go back to your normal set-up but incorporate that feeling in your swing.

Adding Speed Through Impact: The Listening Drill

Next time you play a golfer with a low golf handicap, listen closely when he drives his ball. You'll hear a loud "whoosh." That's the sound of clubhead traveling through impact at an enormous speed. That's the sound of a good ball striker.

This drill teaches you what it feels like to swing a club with incredible speed as it passes in front of your body. You need a driver length shaft, with a grip on it and no clubhead attached. Swing the shaft back and through as in a normal practice swing, listening closely for the "whoosh" as it tears thought impact on the downswing. Try to make the whoosh loudest from a point even with your right leg to about midway into the follow-through. If you don't have a spare shaft, simply turn your driver upside down and grip it on the neck just above the clubhead and the grip of the club will be where the clubhead would normally be.

As you swing, be aware of what body parts move the fastest during the drill. This sensation varies from player to player, then incorporate it in your swing. If it feels like your hands give you the greatest increase in speed, for example, concentrate on using them more actively when you go back to your normal swing.

These three drills generate more clubhead speed. Practice them from 25 to 50 times at a session. Make them a daily golf instruction routine. Doing so will improve your mechanics and ingrain the feeling of adding clubhead speed. Once you've ingrained this feeling in your mind, take it with you to the practice range and hit some balls. Keep at it. You should find yourself producing more distance off the tee without swinging harder and, probably, cutting strokes off your golf handicap.

▷▷▷Practice a Faster Golf Swing to Get More Driver Distance

Looking to add more distance to your drives? It will help if you understand the three factors that influence distance in your golf swing so that you know where to best focus your efforts. The three swing factors that influence distance are:

1. Clubhead speed;

2. Center Contact

3. Angle of Approach

How Clubhead Speed impacts Driver Distance

The most important factor for creating more distance with you drives is increasing your clubhead speed. For every 1 mile-per-hour you increase your clubhead speed you add 2.2 to 2.7 yards to your distance, depending on how much your ball rolls out after landing. As a result, the first thing you should evaluate when looking to add distance to your drives is finding ways to increase your swing speed.

How do you know what to work on?

The challenge here is that there are quite a few ways to go about increasing your swing speed. You could work on your swing arc width, weight shift, hip turn speed, lag, forearm rotation, grip pressure, or your finish extension. Which one will be the most effective for your particular swing?

Practice Swinging as Fast as You Can

Here's an easy way to zero in on the most important factors for increasing the speed of your unique swing: Practice swinging as fast as you can.

It seems simple. Even logical. But most of my golf students have never even tried to see how fast they can swing!

The Baseball Rip Swing

Here's the way I suggest you practice swinging faster. It is an exercise I call the "Baseball Rip Swing." The benefit to practicing this drill is that you will wind up teaching yourself in a natural way how to increase your swing speed.

Practice Swinging as Fast as You Can

This drill is deceptively simple, yet you may be surprised at how difficult it is at first to swing fast and stay in balance. Your goal is to make a series of continuous back and forth baseball swings (not golf swings!) chest high while rotating your hips and core all the way back and all the way forward through 180 degrees of rotation. Every 2nd or 3rd rotation, swing as fast as you can (rip it!), then get back into your continuous rhythm. The more you practice, the faster you will swing.

How to Do the Baseball Rip Swing:

1. Normal to slightly wide stance;

2. Stand Upright - Spine completely upright and vertical (do not lean forward or take a golf stance);

3. Hold your driver chest-high, parallel to the ground, and straight out in front of you with your arms fully extended

4. Begin swinging back and forth around your spine in a continuous rhythm;

5. Turn Your Belt Buckle and Core Thru 180 degrees of Rotation;

6. Every 2nd or 3rd swing make a Rip swing as fast as you can, then get back into your continuous rhythm.

7. On your Rip swings, move your "whoosh" as far forward in the swing as possible;

8. Stay in balance;

9. Pay attention to the sequence of your Rip swing: weight shift, hip turn, shoulders follow, club releases. Eventually your regular swing will incorporate the same sequence, and you will be increasing your swing speed!

10. If this exercise gives you any discomfort, discontinue it immediately!

Summary

To get more distance with your drives, practice swinging as fast as you can. Driver distance is most directly affected by swing speed, so learning to swing as fast as you can without hitting a ball can help you increase your swing speed. The baseball "rip" swing is a great way to practice swinging faster.

Systematic Golf: A Complete Golf Instruction Guide

List Price: $17.95
As a golfer, you know how easy it is to pick up bad habits. Videos by superstars can help, and so can lessons from local pros, but golf is an individual game. The champs don't copy each other, so why be a clone of any of them? Instead, you could be your own best coach, armed with this unique personalized skill-training book by one of golf's most popular instructors. Palmer offers one of the largest, most complete, most detailed guides to the subject, so you can choose to practice any or all of the hundreds of careful steps shown in over 250 full-color illustrations on 36 different photographic sequences. Take your time and study each one as long as you want. The section on your swing, for example, breaks down this two-second motion into several steps. The same careful approach covers stances, grips, swings, club selection, tee shots, fairways and greens, roughs, uphill and downhill lies, the putting game-within-a-game. Dozens of checklists show what to do about chronically rough parts of your game. You also get into the mental aspects, and learn how to educate your muscle memory to affect swing movements controlled by the subconscious mind. As you see how your game is made up of so many little motions, you'll probably discover a few minor changes that could each save a stroke or two. Finding those little moves is what this book--and your game--are all about.

▷▷▷Golf Swing Lessons: The Four Most Helpful Books

What golf swing books offer the most comprehensive information about understanding and improving your golf swing? What golf swing books are being used by both professionals and new golfers alike for reference?

Below are the 4 top-selling golf swing books that I consider most helpful, especially for new golfers:

1. "Understanding the Golf Swing", by Manuel de la Torre

The author has been cited by Golf Magazine as one the leading golf coaches in the U.S. His teaching method is simplified and well-tailored for the new golfer.

The author emphasizes the importance of the grip and the position of the club when it impacts the ball.
His book also includes a comprehensive troubleshooting guide for swing problems.

2. How to Build a Classic Golf Swing written by Ernie Els

The author, Ernie Els possesses an excellent swing that has helped him win the U.S. Golf Open when he was just 24 yrs. old. Hence, he is one of the leading authorities in teaching the fundamentals of swing mechanics and troubleshooting golf swing problems.

Els' swing teaching method underlines the importance of rhythm to the swing aside from power and accuracy. His book is filled with "key tips" and more than a hundred photos that will help readers clearly understand his swing lessons.

3. The Golf Swing's Simple Secret, written by J.F. Tamayo

The book is a useful and interesting compilation of Tamayo's more than a two decades study of the distinct differences between the professional golfer's swing from that of an amateur.

Tamayo has identified small changes which novice golfers can apply to considerably improve their swing and score immediately. His teachings are a useful resource for both novice and intermediate golfers to find new ideas and ways to 'streamline' or 'clean' their swing.

4. "The Keys to the Effortless Golf Swing" written by Michael McTeigue

This little swing tutorial is written by a local golf instructor who has impressed his clients of recreational golfers by helping them improve their game rapidly that they encouraged him to write a book and achieve more national recognition.

So if you're a weekend golfer then you can benefit from the simple and practical writing style of McTeigue on how to swing the club like a pro, instead of hacking the club through the air like a beginner.

McTeaigue will also teach you how to adjust your body movements to produce excellenT swings to shoot various distances and using different clubs.

Therefore, if you want to you transform the quality of your swing into that of a professional, these four golf swing books will teach and show you how in a simple and clear format.
